It’s easy to make masks for your skin that help your skin glow. Reparative masks are a great way to soothe the skin, combat dryness, and regulate the productions of oils in the skin. The result is a beautiful, clean, glowing complexion. These recipes can be made mostly with the things you already buy and eat.
1. Banana Honey Exfoliating Mask
Smash half an overripe banana in a glass bowl with a fork, stir in 1 TBS of honey and 1 TBS of baking soda. Simply stir up, then apply to your face. As you rub it around, it will exfoliate your skin while the honey moisturizes. Honey also has antibiotic properties. Make this mask and use it immediately. Allow to set on your skin for ten minutes, then wash it off with plain water and gently pat dry.
2. Egg White Oatmeal Pore-Shrinking Mask
This mask contains egg white, oats, and coconut oil. Buy the cold-pressed virgin coconut oil that is for eating. Simply mix 1 TBS of coconut oil (you may need to let it melt slightly) with one egg white and 1/8 cup of oats. Mix together with a fork in a small bowl. Rub it on your face, then allow it to stay on your skin for ten minutes. Due to the speed at which coconut oil melts, this is a very greasy combo. Wash off your face after ten minutes with mild soap and pat dry.
3. Olive Oil Mask for Dry Skin
Buy only extra-virgin cold-pressed high-quality olive oil for use on your skin. In fact, you should only buy good quality for cooking too. Every ingredient you purchase should be the highest quality you can find. Make sure it’s in eco-friendly packaging such as glass.
To make this mask, just mix together the ingredients in a glass bowl with a fork until well blended. You’ll need 1 TBS each of olive oil and raw honey. Then add 1 vitamin E oil capsule and 1 egg yolk, and mix together. To add some exfoliating power, add 1 scant teaspoon grated zest from an orange, lime, lemon, or other citrus fruit. Apply to your face, avoiding the mouth and eye area. Leave on for up to ten minutes, then rinse off with cool water and pat dry.
4. Bentonite Clay Mask with Honey
This mask is excellent for any skin type but is especially helpful for dry or ashy skin. You can buy the clay at many places like Hobby Lobby, Bulk Apothecary and Amazon. All you need is a minimal amount per recipe, which you should make at the time you plan to use it.
Mix together with a fork 1 teaspoon each of bentonite clay, raw honey, and water, and then add if you want a couple drops of essential oil like rose. Mix together to form a paste, then rub onto your skin in a circular motion. Leave on for 15 minutes until the clay is hard. Wash off with a very warm, wet washcloth. Don’t rub, use lots of water, then pat dry.
These masks for your skin are eco-friendly, and safer for you than many store-bought concoctions. However, you can also find premade options at most stores today that are both eco-friendly and safe, other than potentially their packaging. That’s what makes making it yourself so much better. You only make what you need, and if you do need to store it you can reuse glass jars.
