Complementary Exercises To Kettlebell

While you can use your kettlebell for your entire workout regimen, there are some complementary exercises you might want to be aware of that can help make your kettlebell workouts more efficient. Let’s look at a few.

Work on Your Deficiencies

If you find that you are having issues with specific exercises with your kettlebell, find other exercises that you can do to work in that area. For example, if your core is still very weak, take time out of your day to do planks every now and then to assist.

Improve Your Balance

If you have balance issues, working on that will improve your kettlebell workout substantially. One way to work on your balance is to take a moment to stand on one leg a minute at a time or as long as you can hold it throughout the day.

Improve Your Form

You will be doing squats and other motions that require perfect form to avoid injury. Work on making the movements you need for each exercise with your kettlebell but without the bell; simply focus on moving yourself correctly and keeping the proper form.

Get a Massage

No, this isn’t technically an exercise, but massage has many exercise-like benefits. It can help move toxins through the lymphatic system, plus help ease muscle tiredness so that your recovery time is faster and you can do more kettlebell work.

Get Your Butt Stronger

You need a lot of good muscle tone to use your kettlebell correctly, so being able to do similar movements without the bell will help. Try doing yoga squats without using your kettlebell, which will be a full body workout to help make your bootie and core stronger.

Yoga Hip Openers

You also use your hips a lot because that’s where you are supposed to bend or hinge during your swings. These exercises open your hips and even allow your back and shoulders to do the work too, but properly without damage. Plus, your legs will get stronger too. Any exercise in yoga that is good for you will help you tremendously with kettlebells.

Stretches

If you perform the right stretches pre- and post-workout while your ligaments are still warm from the workout, you’ll see a lot more benefits from the exercises that you do. Some stretches that help the areas you will work on with your kettlebell will make the workout work better. You can look at a few exercises for this here:
