Want to start experiencing the benefits of Pinterest for business? Before you get started, you’re going to need to create a business account.
Most users sign up with a personal account, not realizing there is a business account option. However, did you know that it’s actually against Pinterest rules to use a personal account for business?
Here, you’ll discover how to set up a Pinterest business account to start marketing your brand.
Setting Up a New Business Account
If you’re completely new to Pinterest, you’ll need to set up a brand-new business account. To do this, simply head over to Pinterest Business on your desktop. You can do it on the mobile app, but it’s much easier on your computer.
You’ll be met with a pop-up to type in your email address, password and age. Fill the information in and then click Create Account. You’ll then be asked to fill in your business name, website information and the country you reside and operate in.
The next step will be to select a focus for the business from a drop-down menu, followed by selecting whether you want to start running ads. After this, your new account will be created and you can start to add your own pins.
Switching a Personal Account to a Business One
Another option for setting up a business account is to switch from your personal profile. Switching a personal account to a business one is easy, and you’ll get to keep all of your personal pins and followers. You can also switch it back to a personal account at any time.
To switch your account over, log into your personal account. Click the button at the top right of the screen to bring up the menu. Select the Settings option and then click on Account Settings. Locate Account Changes, then click on Convert Account and Continue.
Your personal profile should now have been converted to a business one.
Linking a Business Account to a Personal One
The final option you have when creating a business account is to link it to your personal profile. With this option, you won’t have to get rid of your personal account or keep them totally separate.
To link an account, head to the Settings section of your personal account as explained above. Then click on Account Settings, followed by Linked Business Account under the Account Changes section. Select Create a Linked Business Account and follow the prompts provided.
These are the three methods available to get you started as a business on Pinterest. Each option has its pros and cons so think about which one best matches your needs.
As you can see, it couldn’t be simpler to set up a Pinterest business account. However, whichever method you choose, one thing you will need is a website. You’ll struggle to gain the benefits of Pinterest if you don’t have a website you can direct users to. So, if you don’t have one yet, set one up and then follow one of the methods above to create your new account.
